Toyota Prius Safety Recalls

April 26, 2010

Wondering how your OZOcar service is affected by the Toyota service recalls?  Below we shed some light on the recent recalls and explain how OZOcar has acted to ensure passenger safety. The Toyota models that OZOcar provides to service your account are the 2008-2010 Camry Hybrid, 2005-2010 Prius, the 2006-2008 Lexus RX400h and the Toyota Highlander Hybrid.

Three safety related issues have been highlighted in recent days in the press: 1) “sticking accelerator pedal” recall; 2) “floor mat entrapment” recall; and 3) 2010 Prius Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Software Update Voluntary Recall

Sticking Accelerator Pedal Recall

No vehicles in the OZOcar fleet are affected by this recall. This recall, announced on January 21, 2010, involves a mechanical default with accelerator pedals in certain Toyota models.

Floor Mat Entrapment Recall

This recall, issued in September 2009, arose from a concern for potential floor mat interference with the accelerator pedal in some Toyota models, including the Prius and hybrid Camry.

OZOcar drivers immediately complied with Toyota recommendations to “take out any removable driver's floor mat and not replace it with any other floor mat.” Drivers are following up with advisements regarding new floor mats and fittings.

2010 Prius Anti-lock Braking System (ABS) Software Update Voluntary Recall

On February 8, 2010 Toyota announced a recall of 2010 Model Year Prius to update software in the vehicle’s ABS system. The software update resolves reports of inconsistent brake feel during slow and steady application of brakes on rough or slick road surfaces by improving the ABS system’s response time.

All 2010 Prius in the OZOcar fleet have completed the software update required by the recall. This recall applies to 2010 Model Year Prius ONLY. Older models, which have a different ABS system, are not affected.
